Plain Bar Soap Is Underrated for Your Body
Simple, cheap, and less packaging than the fancy bottle.
Body washes get the flashy marketing. For most bodies, a good old bar of soap quietly does the job.
Simple can be better
A gentle bar soap cleans just fine, usually with a shorter ingredient list than heavily fragranced, additive-loaded body washes. It also comes with far less plastic packaging — a small everyday win for waste.
Pick the right kind
The one caveat: some old-school "true soaps" can be drying. Look for a bar labeled gentle, moisturizing, or "syndet" (a soap-free cleansing bar) — especially for dry skin — and skip heavy fragrance if you're sensitive.
The move
If you like body wash, no need to switch. But don't overlook a simple, gentle bar: it cleans well, costs less, cuts plastic, and keeps your routine refreshingly uncomplicated.
