A Lot of "Honey" on Shelves Isn't Really Honey
One of the most faked foods in the store.
Honey is one of the most adulterated foods in the world — quietly cut with cheap syrup to stretch the jar.
The rice-syrup trick
A lot of commercial "honey" is diluted with rice or corn syrup. It's hard to catch by taste, and standard tests don't always flag it. You pay honey prices for sweetened syrup.
"Filtered" can erase the evidence
Ultra-filtering removes the pollen — which also removes the one clue that tells you where the honey actually came from. No pollen, no traceability.
The move
Buy raw, local honey from a source you trust — a farmers' market or a named single-origin jar. If it's suspiciously cheap and crystal-clear with no origin listed, be skeptical. Real honey has character.
