Some "Healthy" Yogurts Pack More Sugar Than Ice Cream
The fruit on the bottom is mostly sugar on the bottom.
Yogurt has one of the best health reputations in the fridge. Some versions have earned it. Others are dessert with a probiotic alibi.
The fruit-on-the-bottom problem
That fruit layer is usually fruit and a lot of added sugar. A single flavored cup can run 15–20+ grams of sugar — more than a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The "good for your gut" halo does the rest of the work.
Why plain wins
Plain yogurt is just milk and live cultures. You control the sweetness by adding real fruit, and you keep the protein and probiotics without the sugar spike.
The move
Buy it plain and add your own berries. If you want flavored, scan the sugar line first — under about 8 grams is a reasonable ceiling for something you eat most mornings.
